Originating from the 19th century it is the oldest park in Narva. After the great fire of
1659 which only the castle and three other buildings escaped untouched from it was
allowed to build of stone only. Easy for a blossoming trade center. In the II World War
again only a few buildings were left standing.

Erected in 1853 to honour the soldiers fallen in the battle of Narva in 1704, a battle in
which Russians took the town from Swedes. For the rest of the country the Good Old
Swedish Era became to an end a few years later.
A legend says local peasants received a miraculous relevation on this hill and later on found an Orthodox icon most holy under the oak-tree here, a sacrificial one itself. All of this happened in the 16th century.
