Being established in the 16th century it was rather well off by the 18th like the island in whole. Harvest was good, wool the best, building material in plenty. There were so many apples even pigs had their share. 100 000 mugs of milk was changed into cheese in the manor's cheese factory. In autumn 2012 the manor was voted to be the most valuable historic building in Europe.
