Built in 1802 it is the one Old Believers’ church in Piirissaare that
has survived. The other one got destroyed during the German
occupation. Many old believers’ themselves were deported by the
Germans. It is still a tradition that the fishermen of the Lake Peipsi
celebrate St. Peter’s day in Piirissaare.
