Своеобразие церкви – в её кривой башне, которая из-за плохой почвы наклонилась на один метр на запад. В средние века церковная жизнь Каркси была связана с городищем. В построенном в 13 веке городище была также часованя св. Петра. Нынешняя церковь была построена в 1772-1778 гг.частично на стенах городища. Архитектура церкви крайне проста, к церковному залу пристроена башня со шпилем в стиле барокко, с восточной стороны пристроена ризница.
