The exact time of building the horse-mill on the edge of Old Tallinn
is unknown. The earliest mentioning of the mill and its round thick
limestone walls go back to the year of 1379. The horse-mill was
not in use every day but when the town was besieged or when the
water-mills were frozen. Nowadays the mill accommodates the
Limestone Museum.
