The monument to the Singing Mother of the Seto People is dedicated to all of the most famous singing ladies of Setomaa, primarily Hilana Taarka, Miko Ode and Irö Matrina. The monument was completed and unveiled in 1986 as part of the 4th Seto Song Days. Modelled by sculptor Elmar Rebane in the local Artists House, the monument is 3 metres tall, weighs 9 tonnes and is fashioned from granite. Memorial stones to other local singers were unveiled by the monument at the opening festivities of Lake Obinitsa and the Seto Museum in 1995.
