The building of Tehumardi Recreation Centre started in 2003. The recreation centre with its modern conveniences and traditional Saaremaa ambience and design is open to the public from spring 2004.

Our purpose is to provide lodging and resting services for the people travelling in caravans. Any caravan vehicle can quickly and comfortably be connected into the electric circuit and shower and sauna services are also available. Sewage waters of the caravan can be deposited in a special sewer system. Summer nights can also be enjoyed in tents erected amidst the Saaremaa junipers, an experience certainly enhanced by mind-widening evenings at a campfire.

A large special area provides room for all sorts of games. We have also special petanque and volleyball grounds. The recreation centre has a large pool. A bicycle can be rented to explore the surrounding nature and the beach nearby. For more demanding people like families with small children for instance, we can offer double hotel rooms equipped with skylights, a shower and a TV and located on the top floor of the main building.

The recreation centre is located in the Salme parish. The village of Tehumardi is located on the narrowest strip of Saaremaa - the neck of the Sõrve peninsula. Sights to see nearby include the Sörve peninsula and the Järve beach dunes, the Kaugatuma and the Lõo bluffs, the Church of Jämaja, the Viieristi coast terrace, the Vesitükimaa islets, the Port of Mõntu, the Ohesaare bluff, the Pühatu springs, the Loode oak grove and the Stebel coastal defence battery. The proximity (ca 15 minutes of driving) of the Kuressaare city ensures that additional activities and shopping can be enjoyed in no time. Summer is also a great season to visit Kuressaare for the cultural events held there. The nearest centre and shop is in Salme, at the distance of 2.3 km.
