1840 built Eeru Tavern is the only peasant barrel house in
Estonia that has remained its original characteristics. It is also
a typical 19th century peasant homestead – the barrel keeper
lived there too. Low doors were meant to keep in all the possible
warmth. There is no chimney, the smoke had to push through
narrow vents in walls.
The vassal fortress in Angerja was originally constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries, but was rebuilt and modernised several times thereafter.
