The history of this manor goes back to the year 1558 when some land was enfeoffed to a Hinrich Billinghusen, a prominent person from Lübeck. His descendent Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen was born in the neighbouring Lahetaguse manor. Bellingshausen was a leader of the circumnavigation expedition during which the continent of Antarctica was discovered.
