First mentioned in 1309 the manor is the oldest one in Saaremaa and one of the oldest ones in Estonia. Russians burned all the buildings on the estate to the ground in 1710 during the Great Nordic War. The oldest part of the manor, the part standing on the arched cellar was built right after the war.
