The bronze bust of writer AH Tammsaare rests on a tall granite column. The column is decorated with bas-relief that depict episodes from the novel Truth and Justice – the arrival of Andres and Krõõt at Vargamäe and Indrek digging a ditch in the swamp and making up with Pearu. The monument was created by sculptor Ferdi Sannamees and stands in front of the community and former courthouse made famous by the writer in his works and it was opened on 30 August 1936. It is a monument erected by the local people to the great novelist who was born on the Tammsaare-Põhja Farm in Vetepere Village on 30 January 1878.
