A church has been existing in Paide, the center of Estonia, at least from the 13th
century, first between the walls of the Ordelian fort, later in the town. Being destroyed in
the Livonian War, re-built, destroyed again in the Great Nordic War, re-built again and
burned down in 1845 the current church originates from the year 1848.
