The monument created by Amandus Adamson was opened on the 24th of June in 1926. It represents Lembitu, the prehistoric elder of Sakala parish, who is wounded but keeping his sword high.
The monument was first vandalized in 1941 and reopened in 1950 but was soon destroyed again. The monument was restored once again and opened in 1990.
