The Hino Lake is the largest and most island-rich lake in Haanja. Hino is rich in species of fish –  bream, roach, perch, pike, tench, ruffe, rudd, bleak, silver bream, crucian carp, eel, burbot – all can be found in the lake. The landscape reserve is home for 40 species of birds, including a very rare diver (Gavia arctica) which is included in the Red Data Book of Estonia as an extremely endangered species.
